ALAN H. KUMLER, CPA

Alan Kumler currently lives in Blairsville, Georgia, where he is Senior Vice President, Controller, and Chief Accounting Officer of United Community Banks, Inc.

Alan began his career in 1988 with KPMG Peat Marwick, LLP in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he held various positions, beginning at entry level staff, through Audit Manager—Financial Services Practice. In 1995, he joined Commercial National Bank as Vice President and Controller. Then, in 1996, he moved to Jackson, Mississippi, to work as Vice President and Financial Reporting Manager with Deposit Guaranty Corp. where he was responsible for all reporting with shareholders, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the New York Stock Exchange, and various bank regulatory agencies. In 1998, he moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to work for Wachovia Bank, N.A. as Vice President and SEC Reporting Manager where he was responsible for all reporting with the Securities and Exchange Commission including authoring Management’s Discussion and Analysis. In 2001, Alan moved to Blairsville, Georgia to work for United Community Banks, Inc. as Senior Vice President, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer. There, he is responsible for all accounting operations for bank holding company and its subsidiaries with eighty-five banking locations covering Georgia, east Tennessee, and western North Carolina, along with much more.

Alan lives with his wife, Kristy and their three children; Brady, Daniel, and Allie. Outside of work, Alan is an active member of First Baptist Church, Blairsville and a member of the choir there. He is also a member of the Union County Rotary Club, currently serving as Youth Chairman, and a member of Union County Elementary School Council. Alan is also a Royal Ambassador Leader for First Baptist Church, Blairsville and a coach for recreation department sports.
