ABE VARUGHESE

Abe Varughese graduated in 1986 with a BS in Computer Science and minor in Mathematics. He started his career as Software Developer, developing C applications for Fidelity Mutual Funds. Mr. Varughese also developed various database applications, and was recognized for his Software development talent. He received several promotions and “Best Software Developer” recognition. He moved into networking in the 1989, and became an systems engineer in Novell and OS/2 LAN Manager for the University of Missouri. He was a lead Systems Engineer supporting Novell/LAN Manager servers, Frame Relay WAN, Token Ring, and Ethernet networks. His expertise included SNA, IPX, and TCP/IP. In the early 90s he became the Project Manager of MU Hospital System, where hemanaged a team over all the electronic mail and data security services and was promoted twice. In1996, Mr. Varughese became the MIS Director for Transamerica Small Business Capital and moved to Greenville, SC. He managed27 offices and implemented the company’s first VPN solution. In 1998 Mr. Varughese joined PSA Consulting, as a Management Consultant. He was promoted to Vice President in 2001, in this role, he implemented several new technologies such as the company’s first web-based intranet for project tracking and billing, direct payroll, strategic business partnerships. and helped increased growth and revenue. In April of 2005, Mr. Varughese launched SmartBiz Services LLC, as President and Founder. He has recruited several team players to help promote a full service Information Technology company, with emphasis on 3 key areas: Data Security, IT Staffing and Software Development.
