How do you start a business?

Playing mother bird to a fledgling business isn’t easy. Where do you start? While wikiHow is tempting as always, of course there’s much more to the process than a barebones outline can define. Yes, you’ll need a product or service to provide, as well as a business plan and an operational plan.

But what other factors make the difference? How do you nurture a business well enough to get it off the ground? Like parenting, how do you know if you’re approaching it right?
