Two upstate high school students have been selected for an engineering internship for the 2019-2020 academic year. Connor Burns, a senior at Blue Ridge High School and Alex Cowden, a senior at Greenville Tech Charter High School (GTCHS) were selected from a strong pool of qualified applicants. Each student will complete a formal program that includes an introduction to the KTM Solutions systems engineering process. The students will learn practical engineering skills through a series of design projects. The program provides opportunities to present ideas to the KTM engineering staff as well as potential clients. “Since our company founding, KTM Solutions has been working with promising high school and college students. We believe it is our business responsibility to provide opportunities for learning and development of the work force. Our end goal is to give the students an appreciation for the engineering profession so they can make informed career decisions." says Paul V. Kumler, President, KTM Solutions. The program is working! Almost 40 students have participated in the KTM Solutions internship program since beginning in 2006, where 80% have decided to pursue an engineering career.
