One of the central concerns as establishments reopen is the health of employees and visitors, accomplished primarily through social distancing, rigorous hygiene, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). As of this week, all 50 states are reopening to some degree, and venues are looking for custom office partitions and room dividers.
Much of the focus regarding PPE has understandably been on the healthcare industry, as well as on office environments. Many of the items essential for healthcare professionals don’t apply in other settings—or should be reserved for anyone working in medicine—and the COVID-19 partitions developed for offices might need adapting to suit other establishments.
So what kind of equipment can non-healthcare, non-office venues look for in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19?

Plexiglass Microphone Shields
Do microphone shields work? Places that regularly use microphones and rely on public speaking or singing, such as concert venues or houses of worship, can use shields to help protect hands from contamination while holding a microphone close to the mouth.
Our microphone shields are 11 inches in diameter and attach around the handle of the microphone. This design shields the person’s hand from particles released while talking or singing, further reducing the risk that those particles will reach a shared surface or another person.
Plexiglass and Acrylic Desk Partitions
These partitions, featured on WYFF News 4 for their use in offices, can be custom cut and built to suit virtually any environment, whether a workplace breakroom, a school classroom, a restaurant host stand, or a cafeteria. KTM is able to offer freestanding clear desk partitions and dividers, as well as mounted versions.
The CDC recommends maintaining a distance of at least 6 feet between people and using a physical barrier when that distance is not realistically possible. Clear partitions allow light to pass through so that people can see one another and communicate while mitigating the risk of transmitting illness.
